Yesterday the Wolfie’s of the NIWC went to the Lake Harriet Kite Festival.
Nagini, Lucius, Heart, and Soul along with their human companions met at the South Beach of Lake Harriet and proceeded to the Bandshell where the kite festival was held.
From the moment their walk started, there wasn’t even one second where people didn’t stare in awe, comment or even ask to meet our magnificent Wolfhounds. When we reached the Bandshell we refrained from going on the ice where people were running across the ice flying their kites, even though the dogs were clearly curious and would have loved to have joined in the fun! We strategically placed ourselves in a grassy area right next to the sidewalk that was the pathway to the food trucks. This was the perfect spot for our beloved majestic hounds to meet and greet a public that was more than eager to meet them.
For the next hour it was a constant stream of humans of all ages and sizes coming up to say hello to our four spectacular babies and those four babies just as eagerly loved and soaked up the attention. There were even people who stood and waited their turn to meet these wonderful dogs and they were well rewarded for their patience with the kind of love only Irish Wolfhounds can give. Their human companions were busy as well answering all manner of questions about Irish Wolfhounds, our Specialty, their temperaments, their diets, their responses to other dogs, cats, children, what they are like in a family setting and the occasional question “What breed is this?”
During that one and one-half hour window of walking to and from the kite festival and meeting and greeting at the festival, our precious babies encountered and interacted with over 200 people. It was such a fun event for the dogs and their human companions. And best of all, it was a wonderful opportunity to educate the public about what incredible companions Irish Wolfhounds are!!!
