I have said it before and I will say it again. America certainly has the finest Irish Wolfhounds in my opinion. I have never come away disappointed when judging over here. Some of the classes I judged today where so close and a real pleasure. Quality and type in abundance. Last time I judged was at the National. I was concerned about a few things but one thing in particular which was a lack of forechest on many of the hounds. Talking to many exhibitors I would say most don’t find it a problem. For me it’s an important part of the front assembly. Its normally accompanied with narrow fronts, shallow chests, and a general lack of strength to support the elbows. A powerful hound has this attribute. Also in many cases the heads for me Where too small to match the size of the frame being narrow through the skull and muzzle. Our hounds heads should be much more powerful than the deerhound. These points are just my observations and like I said you have an abundance of fine Irish Wolfhounds. A pleasure to judge.
