2024 JUDGES BIO'S
Per Lundström
I was born into a home with dogs. My dad used to have Great Danes and I think my fascination for the Irish Wolfhound is born out of his interest in the GD and other big breeds. We also had Kleine Munsterländer at home.
My first Irish Wolfhound litter was born in 1989 under the (jointly owned) prefix Pre-Eminence’s. We also breed miniature wired hair Dachshunds. Later in life I also lived with Afghan Hounds for many years and raised 14 litters. Since 1997 I only breed Irish Wolfhounds, now under my own prefix Greirish. So far, I have bred and owned more than 90 Champions and top winning lure coursing hounds. Dogs I have bred have also earned Champion titles for their owners in Australia, United States, Canada, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, Hungary, Ukraine, Denmark, Finland, and Norway.
I have judged Open Shows since 1994 and awarded CC since 2002; I am licensed by The Swedish Kennel Club and FCI. I am authorized (or under education) to judge breeds from all FCI groups except Group 7 and I am a Group ‘Allrounder’ for FCI Groups 4 (Dachshunds) and 10 (Sighthounds). In addition to many specialty breed shows, I have been part of the judging panels for the world’s largest sighthound shows including Skokloster and Donaueschingen. I have judged Irish Wolfhound National in many countries to mention some of them, America, Australia, and Canada. To date I have judged in America, Australia, Belarus, Ukraine and in most countries in Europe.
I have held workshops in anatomy as well as breed specific seminars since 2005. I am particularly proud of The Afghan Hound World Congress (2008) where I planned together with a committee and created seminar content for several portions of the program. It was held in Sweden over 2 days with more than 100 guests from all over the world. Through the years I have held various positions under the Swedish Kennel Club, for example, President of the Swedish Sighthound Club and Hallands Kennel Club.
I was 2023 awarded Hamilton plaque, the Swedish Kennel Club's top award for dog breeders. Under the statutes of SKK's Hamilton plaque "plaque awarded for the successful work benefiting dog breeding and thus greatly promoting the club's objectives." I earlier was given the Swedish Sighthounds Cub’s breeder plaque for my achievements with my Irish Wolfhound breeding.
Outside of my involvement with the dog world I work as a Business Strategist in a Swedish retail bank called SEBx. Previously I owned a pet shop that included a veterinarian clinic and a large day care center for dogs in Stockholm. Together with my wife Eva we now run a specialized physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic for dogs, Giertz DogMotion.
I look forward to all judging assignments as they provide opportunities to both learn and instruct, as well as a chance to meet wonderful people involved with fantastic dogs.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all and the opportunity to judge your dogs.

I fell in love with Irish Wolfhounds while competing against the great Ch Drakesleat Kyak & had our first dog from Zena Thorn Andrews. He was called Drakesleat Odyn & became our first Champion. He was also a Group winner.
We then acquired our foundation bitch from Zena, Drakesleat Adyr who also became a Champion. That was back in 1989. Since then, there have been 19 Champions & stud book winners owned and/or bred at Sade. Most notable are:
• Ch Sade Rannyk, a Hound Group winner,
• Ch Caredig Kava of Sade won multiple Group and Best in Show honors.
• Ch Bokra Wallace & Ch Bokra Anarchy to Sade both won Groups
o Anarchy won Best of Breed at Crufts 2016
• Ch Sade Jynnx CC won at Crufts
• Ch Sade Porryk, brother of Jynnx, sired Wallace
• Our home-bred Ch Sade Prudence is Top Irish Wolfhound 2018 and the bitch CC record holder in the UK
Our Kennel is a small one. We have had a tremendous few years. Ch Sade Paris has been BOB at Crufts for the last 3 years, winning the Hound Group in 2023, and is the record holder for CC’s in the UK for Irish Wolfhounds. He is Top Hound in the UK 2021 and 2022 and 4th Top Hound 2023, even though he retired in July.
I have had the honor of judging Irish Wolfhounds many times in England, including Crufts, World Show, IWC, & EIWC. I have also judged abroad in America, Belgium, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Czech Rep, France, & Ireland

My involvement with dogs began at an early age on a 32-acre Virginia farm where we had a redbone coonhound, a bluetick coonhound, a beagle, and the occasional stray. Little did I know those years with scenthounds were preparing me to experience the other spectrum of the hound group, the sighthounds. I moved to the Netherlands in 1987, where I met the Irish Wolfhound (IW) breed; thirteen years later, I found myself back in Virginia and acquired two companion IWs.
Another IW joined me in 2002, and in 2005 I began showing in conformation. I bred my first litter in 2007. I reflect daily on the dedicated work of responsible and reputable breed expert of the past contributed, to which came my motto: Study the Past. Consider the Present. Preserve the Future. In 2011, my second breeding resulted in a litter of four females. Keeping my motto in my mind, I have four simple rules: 1) breed only quality specimens; 2) never breed for a “customer base”; 3) do not lose the image of form follows function; and 4) keep temperament, type, health, and mentality of the dogs in the present.
I joined the Potomac Valley Irish Wolfhound Club (PVIWC) in January 2001, and have served in six positions. I am a member of the Irish Wolfhound Club of America (IWCA), the Irish Wolfhound Association of the Garden State, PVIWC, and an IWCA judge’s mentor. My primary interests are selective breeding, education, and future judging.
Enamored with the breed since 1987; Owning since 2000; Exhibiting since 2005; Breeding since 2007. I have bred/co-bred 7 litters, resulting in a total of 26 Irish Wolfhounds, and another litter of four that I whelped and reared (three AKC Champions). Out of the 26 IWs produced, nine finished their AKC championship; three awarded Best Puppy at Specialty shows; and a treasured experience of having two littermates awarded Best in Sweepstakes and Best Opposite to Best in Sweeps at Northstar Irish Wolfhound Club’s 2018 Specialty show.
I judged the 2021 Scottish Deerhound Club of America Sweepstakes at Bryn Mawr KC, and the Irish Wolfhound Sweepstakes at PVIWC in 2022. I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to examine the youngsters. I look forward to not only seeing what the breed will have to offer in the future but to see the generations from which they came! Thank you for the invitation to judge NIWC’s 2024 Sweepstakes.
For Love of the Breed.
